The guy went to Hannes, our drum player, tapped him on the shoulder and said to him: "you would not survive in war, you would get shot immediately because you’re so tall". We had the opportunity to meet this old soldier who could not see anymore. We went to South America on tour and one of the guys actually came to the show. Pär: "(.) "Smoking Snakes", which is about Brazilian soldiers who fought in the Second World War. I already had the song Smoking Snakes which I thought was going to be the album opener until I had Night Witches, then I knew that was the one." ![]() Joakim: "When I had the song Night Witches, the first one, I knew this was probably the album opener. So that song was written, from beginning to end, only by me on a piano. When I did the song Smoking Snakes from Heroes, I decided I wasn’t gonna touch the computer until I’d have composed the whole song, and I can only use a piano. Joakim: "I love setting limitations for myself. In the original demo, before the lyrics, this song was called "Heroes". When it was written the title "Heroes" arrived. Pär: "(.) The first composed as music was "Smoking Snakes", which sounds terribly Sabaton style.
